The flash estimate from the Sweden’s present economic and social prosperity was built on the lessons learned from the financial crisis in the early 1990s. Governments pursued reforms and fiscal sustainability became institutionalized. Stable economic policies combine with competitiveness, innovation and an open approach to trade to make Sweden a model for economic success. The Swedish Model The central feature of the so-called “Swedish model” was the historical compromise between a social democratic ruled state and a privately owned industrial sector. The compromise constituted a middle way between unrestricted capitalism and a centrally planned economy.
The dynamic Swedish economy Today, Sweden has a diverse and highly competitive and successful economy. The World Economic Forum ranks Sweden among the top ten most competitive countries in the world. Sweden is also one of the easiest countries in the world to do business with, according to the World Bank. The Swedish economy has extensive and universal social benefits funded by high taxes, close to 50% of GDP. and families. All the political parties in Sweden today agree that the Swedish model works. The model combines flexibility for companies with security and influence for employees. It has clear rules, is predictable, and has made the Swedish economy competitive. No other system has proven itself better for stability and growth.
